Pictures were sent in by Reverend Richard Young, of the Remembrance service to pay tribute to those who gave their lives for at war for their country.

A CEREMONY was held to mark the addition of the names of the heroes of World War Two to Yiewsley War Memorial.

The Bishop of Willesden led the ceremony in front of MPs, councillors, and the local community as well as families of those being honoured on Sunday.

MANY names of those who gallantly served the country in World War Two will finally be carved onto a memorial on Sunday for the first time.

After months of work and years of campaigning, a re-dedication ceremony is to take place at Yiewsley War Memorial this weekend.

HAPPY couples who have tied the knot over the years are being invited to a special celebration to renew their vows.

Everybody who has ever been married at St Matthew's Church in High Street, Yiewsley is being asked back for a second wedding on April 11.

The Marriage Celebration Service, which will take place on Easter Sunday at 2.30pm, is part of St Matthew's Church's 150th anniversary celebrations.

As many couples as possible are invited to take part in this memorable occasion with all friends and family welcome.

A YOUNGSTER who won a design contest at her church has been celebrating after winning circus lessons for her school.

Ashleigh Tomlin, 10, was picked as the winner of a contest to design a logo marking the 150th anniversary of St Matthew's Church, High Street, Yiewsley.

Proud Ashleigh, who was nine when she designed the emblem, now has her design and her name printed on a big banner outside the church, ahead of its anniversary which takes place in July.

Vicar Richard Young said: "The entries were of a very high standard, choosing a winner wasn't easy.

"But we liked Ashleigh's design, there's a big iron cross hanging up inside the church, just like in her logo, it was everything we wanted."

As a prize, her class at St Matthew's Primary School, in High Street, Yiewsley were provided with circus training, and Ashleigh has become and expert plate spinner.

ENERGY efficiency expert Donnachadh McCarthy will be handing out advice at St Matthew's Church in Yiewsley.

Mr McCarthy has worked on BBC2 series, It's Not Easy Being Green, wrote bestseller, Saving the Planet without Costing the Earth, and writes an eco column for the Independent.

He will be advising residents on how to save money through being energy efficient at the Yiewsley High Street church at 7.30pm on January 23.

ST MATTHEW'S church in Yiewsley is holding a Christmas bazaar.
Festive stalls, cakes and a tombola will be on offer from 10am until 2pm this Saturday, November 29.

Admission to the High Street, Yiewsley, church event is 50p which includes entry into a prize draw.

St. Matthew's Church, Yiewsley is aiming to put on more events at its Parish Centre in Yiewsley High Street to try and encourage more activity in the town centre.

With the Church celebrating its 150th Anniversary next July there are plans for many celebrations and community events throughout the year.

These events will be for both young and old, churchgoers and non-churchgoers and will include a competition for local schools, an exhibition of children's art, a flower festival and an exhibition celebrating the last 150 years in Yiewsley.

There will also be the Church Jumble Sale, table-top sales and bazaar for all the local bargain hunters.

This coming Saturday (July 19th) they are holding a table-top and car boot sale starting at 11am, to help raise funds for all the planned celebrations.
