New parking arrangements for Violet Avenue shops?

Posted by Dan Coombs on Feb 8, 10 01:23 PM in Local Authority

A STOP and shop scheme is to be considered to boost trade at a flagging parade of shops.

A petition was presented to the council requesting parking controls at Lavender Road and Violet Avenue, Yiewsley.

At present drivers leave their vans or cars outside the shops all day, meaning potential customers cannot find a parking space and often simply go elsewhere.

If the short term waiting restrictions were introduced, it would prevent drivers from blocking customer spaces for several hours at a time.

The shops on the road have been particularly affected by the recession, and the changes would improve the viability of the shops.

The proposals put forward mean that parking would be free for the first hour, and charges would be incurred after that.

A total of 145 people, including all six business occupiers signed the petition.

Hillingdon Council have agreed to design a stop and shop scheme and continue consultation with business owners, but as yet no specific time frame has been put forward.

We'd like to hear from you.
