Illegal workers found on Horton Industrial Estate
TWO failed asylum seekers have been removed from the country after they were found working in West Drayton.
They were among four who were arrested by the UK Border Agency during a raid at The Good Food Company's premises in Horton Road, West Drayton last Thursday (10/9).
Officers interviewed 60 staff and four of the sandwich workers were identified as working illegally with forged documents and were arrested.
The two failed asylum seekers, both men, have been removed from the country, one to India on Monday (15) and the other to Georgia on Sunday (13).
A Guyanese woman has been released on bail pending further inquiries, while a Russian woman has also been bailed while officers work to remove her from the country.
The Good Food Company were told they now face a fine of up to £40,000 for employing illegal workers, unless they can prove they carried out the correct right to work checks.
The Good Food Company confirmed to the Gazette that the raid took place, and insisted they had made all the necessary checks but declined to comment.
