A man convicted drink driving on five occasions has escaped jail.

Anil Jnagal, 26, of Falling Lane, Yiewsley, was given a suspended prison sentence when he appeared at Uxbridge Magistate's Court on Friday.

Police noticed his BMW driving in an 'erratic manner' swerving between lanes with no indication and running red lights at Hillingdon Hill, Uxbridge, on April 26, the court was told.

When the police pulled him over at 5.30am they found him to be unsteady on his feet. He had 84 microgrammes of alcohol in his breath, which is more than twice the legal limit of 35.

He admitted drink drinking - his fifth offence since 2001 - and was given a five month prison sentence, suspended for two years, and placed under 18 months supervision.

Mr Jnagal was also disqualified from driving for five years and will be made to undergo an extended test when he applies for his license.

He will attend a six month alcohol treatment programme and pay costs of £125.
