PETITIONERS are furious over claims that a company consulted with residents on proposals for a controversial development.
Residents of Tavistock Road and Fairway Avenue, Yiewsley, are fighting against Lafarge Aggregates' plans to build a concrete plant at Yiewsley rail sidings in Tavistock Road.
More than 100 residents have signed a petition to stop the plant being built.
But petitioners were furious after the company claimed in the Gazette on April 29 that it had consulted with residents.
In a letter sent to corporate director of planning and community service at Hillingdon Council, Jean Palmer, West Yiewsley Residents'Association said: "There has never been any attempt to hold such a meeting with any of the residents regarding this or the previous application in 2005.
"This appears to indicate that Lafarge have every intention of progressing with their planning application and suggests that they believe they may be successful."
The company has since stated that it met with six residents for an informal meeting and were unaware of the residents' association.
They added that they were in talks with the council and would be arranging a further meeting with residents.
